Could I, would I, should I?

I have an opportunity to pull the trigger on a boxed NGC set of MS69 SAEs, like the one pictured, for $675.
I think it is a decent deal. Opinions? TIA :wavey:

The real value of graded SAE's is questionable at best, IMO. I would say pass. They are not a numi item (at least to me), only bullion.

Check out the price against a similar set on ebay #1.

Figure out if you want the set #2.

The above post is rather true #3.

However, I have both a MS69 and PF69 COMPLETE SETS because all those green monster boxes (honestly I have a lot) rather bore me.

I do appreciate the MODERN NUMISMATIC items however I recognize the fact that the MS70 and PF70s are really really really really and may I say REALLY over rated and OVER PRICED for the difference.

My collecter status is approaching the top 200 now on NGC - so I have a few coins.

I say get what you can get when you can get it because frankly - after a few hundred bullion coins they get to all look the same....

sorry. :36_3_12:

I checked a few places online and these are in the $700-$1000 range.
At $675 it's not a screaming deal, but I think it's a reasonable deal.
This would be my first-ever purchase of slabbed/graded (numi) coins.

How much for a 20 roll of bullion SAE's ? $400 - $450

Personally, I'd put the $675 to better use.

Re: Could I, would I, should I?

I would pass for two primary reasons - first of all, SAEs are bullion so they don't circulate. Since they don't circulate, 99.99% of all SAEs ever minted are all still in MS (mint state) condition. Second, if you're going to buy slabbed bullion, you ought to get a perfect MS70 coin because the 69s are common. Buy a tube of SAEs, send them to be slabbed and most of them will be 69 with a 70 here or there and maybe a 68. Definitely pass.

Someday a slab may come in handy, perhaps?

I always believe in many different type BASKETS!

For example imagine having one thing and that one thing becomes like the
IMMENENT DOMAIN 5th Amendment and the government wants it for a shopping center, right?

That one thing that HOUSE the state wanted went to the US Supreme Court and caused Sandra Day O'Conner to resign and retire - then the economy went south - and to this day that SHOPPING center/housing place the state wanted looks like Fort Apache THE BRONX or L.A. City Watts.

Poop happens...:fan::signs14:

Things happen that are totally ironic and actually funny if you are not part of it like the laughing stock city that wiped out a neighborhood for TAX gain; or the laughing stock supreme court that chunked a huge part out of the Bill of Rights, or the area that looks like Iraq that used to be a fair neighborhood.

Enough said.

If it is something that will make you happy then get it.

There is a whole bunch of stuff that you can blow your money on with no return

If not.........then pass.

I would say go for it and buy it - who knows when you will have another chance.

Go for it. I just completed my NGC PF69 collection yesterday (25 slabs). Minus of course the 1995-W, the mintage was too low to give all of the collectors a chance at acquiring it. As of right now it's going for $2500-$3200 depending on where you buy. Maybe someday I'll get one but for now I believe in my heart that my collection is complete. I did pick up the 2006 3-coin anniversary set which includes an MS-69 Eagle. I don't know how complete the collection you are able to get for that price but I know that I spent more than $750 to get my 25 slabs. It's too bad that they didn't mint the 2009 Proof though. So maybe this is the end of the Silver Eagle Proofs.

I'm missing that ONE period - too. If you get it cheap - sell it to me.

I accidentally, by mistake picked up the 2008 PF70, just got the PF69 Friday. So I'm sitting around with a 2008 NGC PF70, ER. What to do, what to do.

I'm not sure what you're saying here HS.

Pretty soon I'm going to take some pictures of some graded coins I have up for sale and post them on the NGC "For Sale" board. I've got 4 slabbed silver eagles and 2 slabbed gold (1/10 & 1/4) eagles.
